States that don’t use student’s standardized test scores to evaluate teachers won’t get a penny in Race-to-the-Top money from the US Education Department. A trio of politically important states, California, New York and Ohio won’t get a dime. A “mere” $4.3 billion split 50 ways out of the nearly $100 billion in education stimulus money is involved, so one has to wonder if these states even care. They don’t. Besides, the regs are in the draft stage, just released at that, so there’s time and opportunity to futz around with who is eligible for what. More from Edweek.
