Few things attract my “curiosity” more than a sign that says “Keep Out” or “Danger Ahead”. (However, I have learned to obey signs of thin ice).
So when I came across the DigiTeen Ning, whose purpose is to let students know the “dangers” of the internet, I just had to look. I’m glad I did.
DigiTeen tries to balance the dangers with the opportunities provided by the essential connectivity and open community that is the web. Kids from all over the world are participating in this NING — a beautiful thing.
Digital literacy is a life skill just like reading and math. Do kids learn these skills in school or from each other, or both?
